Elena Piganova was born in 1965 in Kaliningrad. She is an artist and interior designer.
From 1984 to 1989, she studied at the Fine Arts Department of Kaliningrad Music College. Since 1993, she has taken part in exhibitions of graphic art and contemporary art.
At the core of her work are line, sign, rhythm and material surface. Paper, felt, threads and mixed media allow her to connect the graphic gesture with tactile structure. These works do not depict an object; they register a state — movement, inner tension, the flow of time, a trace of presence.
Since 2002, Elena Piganova has worked as a designer of private and public interiors. Her experience with space, light, scale and material has become a continuation of her artistic practice, rather than a replacement for it.
Her works are held in the collection of the Kaliningrad Art Gallery and in private collections in Russia and Europe.
